I think Ffion is the most beautiful and classy dog I've ever seen. Coupled with the fact she is also a merle, who could ask for more!
When I got Ffi in 2003 I was told she was too nervous to train. She had been sold on many times, no doubt because her absolute class on sheep made everyone want her, however no one was willing to give her a chance to settle in. The only other dog I had experience of was my first dog Loeki who was at the other end of the spectrum to Ffi. He had no sheep sense and was hard to handle, hard to train and hard to make any progress with. So when I got Ffi was captivated by her outstanding way with sheep and natural ability. For the first year all I did was send her for sheep and admire her! However, I then ran her and Loeki at a beginners trial in Northumberland and I realised that I was wasting my time trying to turn Loeki into a trial dog, and wasting Ffion by not getting on with the job and training her properly! By this time I had met Bobby Dalziel and began going regularly to his place for lessons. He helped me get her driving, something she was reluctant to do in the beginning probably because she'd spent her whole life so far fetching and didn't see the point!
We already had a strong bond so she trained very quickly and won a Novice class in the August of 04. By the beginning of 05 she was 3rd in a Open trial against some strong competition.
She has mainly brown eyes but does have a small blue fleck which is normal for a merle and does not affect her vision. I only mention it because people ask me about it quite a lot!
Ffion is extremely loyal and affectionate, with excellent sheep sense. We have both learned a lot in the years I've had her.

23 August 2004 Ffion is 2nd in a beginner class in a hill park trial, and 1st in the Novice.

February 2005 Ffion is 3rd at Netherhill Open hill trial.
July 2005 Ffion is awarded the Out run and lift prize at Strathbogie Open Sheep Dog Trial.
August 2005 Ffion is 5th at Glen Clova Sheep Dog Trial.
September 2005 Ffion is 7th at Edinburgh Open Sheep Dog Trial.
October 2005 Ffion is 2nd at Broadgairhill Open Sheep Dog Trial.
